One of the most rewarding, exciting, and humbling aspects of the work we do here at Complion is that it allows us to engage with organizations that are leading the charge to develop new therapies to treat patients suffering from a range of ailments. Some exciting recent news puts one of our clients into the spotlight.
The National Cancer Institute (NCI) has awarded the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University the highest possible rating on the competitive renewal of its Cancer Center Support Grant. Along with the recognition for the excellence of its research programs and patient care, the Lurie Center will nearly $31.5 million in funding, a 36% increase over the previous award.
According to a press release from Northwestern:
“The five-year renewal of Lurie Cancer Center’s status as one of only 49 NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the U.S. follows a rigorous peer-review process that includes more than a year of preparation, a site visit, and analysis by leading scientists from across the country.”
Originally established in 1974, and dedicated as the Robert H. Lurie Cancer Center of Northwestern University in 1991, the center and its affiliated hospitals treat almost15,000 new cancer patients each year, providing access to approximately 300 active clinical trials for nearly all forms of cancer.
The Complion team salutes the fine people at the Lurie Cancer Center for this much-deserved recognition. We are honored to work with an organization with such a stellar reputation for leadership and innovation.
